Working House Fire
Hunterstown Road, Box 1-8
November 3, 2009
A structure box was alerted at 04:52 hours, for a reported vacant house fire, bringing units from Gettysburg, Bonneauville, United, Biglerville, and Irishtown Fire Departments. Chief 1 (Kime) arrived to find a working fire in the basement, and had the first in Engine stretch a line to side C of the structure, with additional lines to the interior. Firefighters found the fire had extended to the attic of the home through the open stairwell, and worked on multiple levels to bring the fire under control. This was the same location of a suspicious barn fire 3 years ago, and the property has been vacant for several years. Command 1 requested a second alarm tanker box bringing additional manpower and water to the scene. Departments operating at the scene, included Gettysburg, Bonneauville, United, Irishtown, Biglerville, Barlow, Alpha, Hampton, and SAVES. Command 1 placed the box available at 08:18 hours.
