The Engine Tanker was alerted to assist on the working structure fire at Soy Energy Products at 14:20 hours. The ET with a crew of 4 responded within 3 minutes to assist and was assigned to water supply and the crew was assigned to suppression. Multiple alarms were struck, and the box was placed available at 23:10 hours.

Bonneauville and Littlestown Departments were dispatched at 08:25 hours for a MVA at the Borough Line. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived within 2 minutes to find a passenger car that had struck the rear of a Sanitation truck with a occupant riding on the rear of the truck. Ambulance 19A arrived within 3 minutes to treat the patient from the rear of the truck, as the driver of the car refused patient care. Due to the mechanism of injury, it was decided to transport the patient by ground to York Hospital. Units on scene included 19A, Engine Rescue 19, and Medic 52.The box was placed in service within 30 minutes.

A box alarm was struck at 03:37 hours for multiple buildings reported on fire. Captain 9 (Dutrow) arrived on scene within 1 minute of dispatch and advised the Com Center that he had 4 buildings involved, with possible occupants trapped. Chief 1 (Baldwin) arrived within 2 minutes and established Chambersburg Street command and requested the 2nd alarm. The crew from Engine Tanker 19 took a position on side C in the alley to the rear and deployed a 200 foot attack line, along with a leader line to a gated wye, with 2 each additional 200 foot lines to Division 2, side C of the multiple story apartment building. No occupants were trapped, and a 3rd and 4th alarm assignment were struck before the fire was marked under control, and the box was placed available at 08:45 hours. Gettysburg Fire Department units remained on scene for over 24 hours helping the PSP Fire Marshal, along with agents from ATF, who also investigated.

Trick or Treat in the Borough

Apparatus staged at various locations in the Borough to provide lighting and treats for the young at heart as they moved throughout town for Trick or Treat. The crew from the ET helped decorate the Lieutenants house while we were in the neighborhood.

Companies 1, 19 and 33 were alerted at 05:00 hours for a possible structure fire at the Prison. Reports from the Com Center advised that there was a fire in the laundry room. Chief 1 arrived first, followed by Engine Tanker 19 with a crew of 5. The crew from the ET stretched a 200 foot line into the dock area of the Prison along with the crew from Engine 1-1 and knocked the fire within 5 minutes. Units went available within 1 hour.

Company 19 and 29 units were alerted for a single vehicle MVA in the 4000 block of Hanover Road. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway into a pole, with no patient to be found. The Chief held the box to ambulance 19A and Engine Rescue 19 to investigate, and placed the box available after 20 minutes.

The Engine Tanker was alerted to assist in box area 4-2 on the working structure fire. The ET with a crew of 4 responded within 2 minutes and provided water, while the crew worked on suppression and overhaul. The Engine Tanker returned after 4 hours on the scene.

Units were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident at 11:25, reported to be at the intersection of Hanover Road, and Storms Store Road. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to a corrected location in the 3000 block of Hanover Road and reported a 2 vehicle MVA, with 1 class 2 patient. The crew from Engine Rescue 19, and Ambulance 19A packaged the patient for transport to Hanover Hospital, and the box was available at 11:48.

The box was struck at 05:50 for a vehicle fire on US 15, in the northbound lane between Hanover Road and Baltimore Pike. E1-1, ET19, R1, and ambulance 1A responded to find a single vehicle off the roadway, well involved. Responding units secured the northbound lanes, and the fire was under control within 10 minutes. Units returned at 06:17.

As a result of several large storms passing through the area, Gettysburg, Bonneauville, Cashtown, Biglerville, and Arendtsville Fire Departments were dispatched for a large hay bale fire on National Park Service land. Chief 1 (Baldwin) arrived to find over 150 large bales involved. Units remained on scene for over 3 hours, and returned to service at 21:01 hours.

The Adams County Volunteer Emergency Services Association held its annual Memorial Service at Oak Lawn today under beautiful skies. 15 Departments had apparatus on site for the program. Engine Rescue 19 and crew attended again this year.

Mount Joy Township Open House

The 4 all volunteer Fire Departments that serve Mount Joy Township participated at the Township open house and provided information and tours of the apparatus for the Township citizens. Alpha, Barlow, Bonneauville, and Gettysburg Fire Department were on hand to help promote fire safety and provide the Township with an opportunity to see a small part of the valuable services that the 4 Fire Department provide on a daily basis.

EQ returns to Service with Upgrades

The Engine Rescue returned to service today from Pennsylvania Fire Apparatus with some new features. The front bumper was replaced with a larger bumper to allow for a pre connected Hurst combination tool, and chevroned. This gives us 3 pre-connected Hurst tools on the Engine Rescue. The lighting was upgraded and additional portable scene lighting installed, including brow lights, and tripod lighting. A pre-connected TFT blitz fire was added, along with larger heavy truck composite step chalks. The Front bumper of the Engine Tanker was Chevroned to match also.

Units were dispatched to the Wyndham Hotel for a reported structure fire. Chief 1 (Baldwin) arrived to find an extinguished fire in the laundry room, with heavy smoke conditions on all floors. Engine Tanker 19 was assigned to the Bravo side and told to stand by at the hydrant and send its manpower to Side B. Units cleared within 30 minutes.

The Engine Tanker and Brush traveled up to Carlisle today to participate in the Cumberland County Volunteer Firefighters Association convention parade. The Bonneauville Fire Department would like to congratulate Dale Myers on his election to President of the CCVFA. The Engine Tanker and Brush both received first place awards for out of County Engine Tanker, and Out of County Brush.

Career EMS Supervisor Joey Temerantz made some changes on the ambulance resulting in a new rescue compartment in the ambulance. All members should make themselves aware of these changes and refresh themselves on the location of the equipment. The Hurst LKE55, 2 MSA Scba's, the window kit, tool box , and other equipment have been moved to this compartment.

The Engine Tanker was dispatched to a reported dump truck with its brakes on fire shortly after noon. The ET and a crew of 5 responded and found a loaded dump truck with a rear brake fire. The crew extinguished the fire and returned to duty within 15 minutes.

18:24 hours. The Engine Tanker with a crew of 4 was 2nd in on a working fire in the 33 box. The ET arrived and supplied Engine 14-1 and the crew was assigned to RIT. After a quick knock down, it was determined to be a suspicious fire and Command 33 (D/C Poist) had the PSP Fire Marshal dispatched to the scene. Units working included E14-1, ET19, E33-1, TK33, 33A,R33, and E29-1. Units cleared within 3 hours of dispatch.

Bonneauville, Gettysburg and SAVES units were dispatched for a reported well involved truck and trailer fire next to a barn. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to confirm dispatch and request 2 additional tankers due to the proximity to the barn. The construction trailer was still attached to a 4WD pickup, with another truck on the trailer fully involved at the Chiefs arrival. Engine Tanker 19 was instructed to pull two 1 3/4 inch lines at arrival. Engine Tanker 29 arrived and stretched a 3rd line to the involved truck, while the crew from Engine 1-1 helped with suppression. All units returned within 1 hour.

VFIS and a crew from JPL Productions visited the station today to film parts of a new training video from VFIS coming in the winter of 2010. The production crew shot video and still shots at the station, and various locations around town, using both the Engine Tanker, and Ambulance, along with several of our volunteers and staff. The new video will address backing procedures, and traffic obstructions for the Emergency Services. The crew moved to New Oxford on Tuesday to film with the volunteers and staff at United Hook and Ladder.

After a long and busy Sunday, the Department was alerted for our 6th call of the day, on Cedarfield Drive, for an automatic alarm. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to find a malfunctioning smoke detector and had the crew from the Engine Tanker make a sweep of the home with the TIC. Finding nothing, and after speaking with the homeowner, the box went available and the ET and ambulance returned after 20 minutes.

While the EQ was responding to the MVA with United Hook and Ladder, they came upon an unreported MVA on Granite Station Road that was partially blocking the highway. After stopping to check the lone occupant, the EQ proceeded to the original call after notifying the 911 center of the incident. After being released on the Rt. 30 MVA, the EQ returned to Granite Station Road, along with ambulance 1A1 to check for hazards and obtain a patient sign-off.

The brush truck was dispatched to assist Barlow FD on a large multiple location brush fire on US RT 15. B19 was assigned to the Ridge Road sector and worked the fence area along the roadway with the bumper sweeps and booster line. Engine Tanker 19 was alerted to assist with water supply and arrived to supply multiple brush units operating on the scene. Departments on scene included Barlow, Greenmount, Gettysburg, Bonneauville, Harney, and Emmittsburg.

The Engine Rescue was dispatched to assist United Hook and Ladder on a MVA with entrapment. The crew from United performed a door pop and the patient was transported by ground to a local hospital. The EQ cleared within 10 minutes.

July 26, 2010

Units were dispatched at 14:32 hours for a possible structure fire. The Engine Tanker responded with 4 in 3 minutes and arrived to find a 2-1/2 story wood frame home with normal exterior conditions. Upon entry the crew from ET19 found food on the stove as E22-2 arrived. Lt.22 held the box to E22-2, ET19, and ambulance 1A, and placed all else in service. The crews vented the home with PPV, and checked the kitchen with a Thermal Imagining camera, before Lt.22 placed the box available at 17:03 hours.

The Engine Rescue with a crew of 6 transferred to the Gettysburg Fire Departments carnival grounds while the members of Gettysburg worked their annual carnival.At 21:35 hours the crew was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in box 1-5, on the Mummasburg Road,in the area of the Peace Light. Engine Rescue 19 arrived to find a 2 vehicle mva with all occupants out of their vehicles. The crew started initial EMS and vehicle stabilization and fluid control while helping the crew of 1A with patient care and transport. All units cleared within 15 minutes. units on scene included Engine Rescue 19, 1A, Duty 1, and Engine 23-1 (also on the transfer)

Gettysburg, Bonneauville and Barlow Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire, box 1-9, at 14:01 hours. Engine Tanker 19 arrived second in and supplied Engine 1-1 while the crew from Truck 1 accessed the roof of the home. The crew of Engine Rescue 19 staged the Engine and supplied the manpower pool until all units were released at 14:49 hours. Units on scene included E1-1, TK-1, ET19, EQ19, and 1A.

Barlow, Bonneauville and Gettysburg Fire Departments were dispatched to a vehicle, well involved, at a commercial salvage yard located in Mount Joy Township at 13:21 hours. Engine Tanker 19 with a crew of 4 arrived first in and stretched a 1 3/4 line to the vehicle and was supplied by Gettysburg Engine 1-1. Units cleared at 13:48 hours, and included R22, ET19,E1-1, and ambulance 1A.

Multiple Departments from Adams and Carroll County Maryland participated in a 2 day Big Water seminar at the County Training Facility. Saturday was spent with classroom activities, and Sunday was the practical application of the class. Engine Tanker 19 participated with a crew of 4 and was the designated supply unit for the 2 hour exercise. A total of 5 Folding Tanks were used in the exercise, and multiple Tankers and Engines were used for the water shuttle.

Annual Appreciation Dinner

Upgrades to the Engine Tanker

March 8, 2010

The Engine Tanker returned from Pennsylvania Fire Apparatus after some upgrades were made. The area above the Drivers side compartment area was closed in for additional foam storage and scene lighting was reconfigured. A brow light was added to the front and deep wells were added to both sides on the ET at the pump. The Engine Tanker now carries 110 gallons of Universal Gold and 15 gallons of Class A Foam. Thanks to Jere Lady and his staff for the excellent work, next up is the Engine Rescue for a new extended and covered front bumper with Hurst tool attached.

Members attended the ACVESA 11th annual Firefighters Ball with the Borough Council President and Mayor as our guests. The annual Firefighters Ball helps raise money for the ACVESA training center and helps provide funding for additional resources for all Adams County Fire and EMS personnel.

The box was dropped at 07:50 hours for a possible structure fire, reported to be in the chimney, at 25 Harvest Drive, in Mount Pleasant Township. Having just returned from a wires down call in the Borough, the crew was still at the station and the Engine Tanker and Ambulance responded within 1 minute. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived ahead of the Engine Tanker and reported a 2 story home with normal conditions. The homeowner advised that she had burned some paper in the woodstove earlier and was concerned that her chimney fire had extended into her 2nd story. The Chief had the crew from the ET lay in from the hydrant and ladder the house. The interior crew removed the debris from the woodstove, clear the 2nd floor with the TIC, and cleaned the firebox. Bonneauville and SAVES apparatus were dispatched at 21:15 hours for a vehicle accident with reports of the vehicle on its roof off the roadway. Bonneauville ambulance 19A and the Engine Rescue, with Assistant Chief Livelsberger in the seat arrived to find the lone occupant out of the vehicle, and held the box to 19A, Engine Rescue 19 and Medic 28. 19A transported to Gettysburg Hospital class 3, and units cleared at 21:34 hours.

Structure box was alerted at 17:18 hours for a Payloader on fire in a structure. Chief 19 (Poland) marked on the air and advised County 911 of a large thermal column from 2 miles out and requested Truck 1 on the box. Upon arrival the Chief found 1 machinery/feed building involved with a 2nd livestock barn off. 5 additional tankers were added to the box due to water issues and the proximity of 2 other buildings. Multiple units worked the call with the last units returning at 22:48 hours. Hanover Hospital, and Biglerville Fire Department supplied heated trailers for rehab, along with the crews of 19A and 33A. Buchannan Valley Engine 27 covered our first due for us during the duration of the call.

Another Successful Shrimp and Chicken Dinner

Once again we held one of our famous Shrimp and Chicken dinners to a full house. Many thanks to all those who came out to volunteer their time to prepare and serve the dinner, and to all who helped support the Bonneauville Fire Department by attending. Many thanks to all.

Units were dispatched at 21:37 hours for a single vehicle off the roadway on its side in a stream. Deputy Chief 19 (Herr) arrived within 2 minutes followed by Chief 19 (Poland) to find an unoccupied vehicle over a culvert. Confirming that the vehicle was in fact unoccupied for some time, the box was placed available at 21:52 hours. Units on scene included Engine Rescue 19 and Ambulance 19A. PSP was on scene and will continue to investigate.

Bonneauville and Gettysburg units were dispatched at 20:38 hours for an AFA at the Groft-Spangler farm, part of the National Park Service in East Cavalry Field. Chief 19 (Poland) marked on the air and was told by County 911 that the tenant called and reported a false trip. The Chief was in the area, and stopped at the location to confirm the false trip and placed the box available. Units dispatched included Engine Tanker 19, Engine 1-1 and Ambulance 19A. The box was available at 20:42 hours.

January 16, 2010

06;56 hours. Units were dispatched to a tractor trailer fire, reported well involved with the tractor detached from the load, on US Route 15 Southbound, at the Route 116 exit ramp. Engine-Tanker 19 arrived 2nd in and supplied Engine 1-1, and sent its manpower to the attack team under the direction of Gettysburg Fire Department Lt. Folster. The crew made the initial hit and then applied foam to the burning trailer and cargo, placing the box available within 1 hour. Gettysburg Fire Department Deputy Chief Shank had the command.

Bonneauville Fire Department assisted Littlestown Fire Department and multiple other Departments on a structure fire at 01:04 hours. The crew of the Engine Rescue was assigned to the manpower pool and assisted with ventilation, returning to service at 01:51 hours.

Gettysburg and Bonneauville Fire Departments were dispatched at 13:05 hours to a commercial building with smoke in the structure. The Engine Tanker was assigned to the rear of the structure and the crew laddered side B and assisted with ventilation and assisted Side C interior operations. The Engine Tanker returned to service at 14:15 hours.

Bonneauville and United units were dispatched for a vehicle accident at 21:12 hours reported involving multiple units. Deputy Chief 19 arrived to find a single vehicle accident with no injuries and held the box to Company 19 units for a sign off and fluid control. Units returned at 21:34 hours.

Units were dispatched for a single vehicle accident, with reports of the vehicle off the roadway, in the water, with possible entrapment. Engine Rescue 19 arrived within minutes to find the occupant confined to the vehicle but not under water, and units were held to Engine Rescue 19, ambulance 19A and Ambulance 20A. Units returned to service within 25 minutes.

Christmas day brings 2 runs for the Volunteers

Christmas morning started with a house fire at 35 Shirley Lane in Littlestown at 09:26 hours, and ended with a vehicle accident in Bonneauville Borough at 21:09 hours. The House fire resulted in minimum damage, and the vehicle accident resulted in no injuries, but the driver of the one vehicle did receive new bracelets for Christmas, courtsey of PSP.

The Engine Rescue and Ambulance responded to a single vehicle accident as a result of the bridge being out due to replacement. The Chief arrived to find a single occupant with no injuries, and held the box to Company 19 units. Units went available within 20 minutes.

The Engine Rescue with a crew of 6 and Ambulance 19A with a crew of 2 responded to assist United Hook and Ladder on an MVA on York Road, involving multiple vehicles. Units cleared the scene within 30 minutes of dispatch.

The Engine Rescue was dispatched at 09:30 hours for the garage fire at 24 Diggs Court. The EQ responded in 4 minutes with a crew of 5, and was assigned to the Landing Zone for a burned subject as a result of the fire. The Engine Rescue assisted with the landing of Stat 13, and returned to service at 10:14 hours.

Units were alerted at 12:44 hours for a structure box, reported multiple vehicle accident with a dump truck into a structure. Engine-Tanker 19 arrived 2nd behind Rescue 1 and found a passenger vehicle into a pole with confinement and a large Dump Truck into a Dentist Office. Command 1 (DC Knerr) had all units in SCBA and placed Lt.1 ( Wasylk) in charge of operations, as the crew from Rescue 33 performed a door pop on the passenger vehicle and crews from Rescue 1, Truck 1, and Engine-Tanker 19 went to work on the structure which had several services compromised, including an oxygen leak and natural gas leak.

Units worked with EMS on patient removal from the vehicles and building and worked to secure the hazards and stabilize the building. Engine-Tanker 19, Engine 1-1 and Rescue 1 laid 3000 feet of 5 inch supply line and established a water supply for operations in the event of a larger scale incident. Volunteers secured the scene and Command placed the box available at 15:06 hours. Units operating included Engine 1-1, Truck 1, Rescue 1, Engine-Tanker 19, Rescue 33, Engine 22-2, Tanker 6, Ambulances 1A, 1A1, 19A, 33A, and 33A1.

Bonneauville Fire Chief Jerry Poland, and Gettysburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Allen Baldwin were hauled off to jail today for a good cause. They were there to raise some bail money for MDA, and working together they successfully raised over $2000.00 in contributions for MDA. After a very comfortable ride to jail, and a few hours behind bars, they were released back into society.

Members spent Saturday night at the station for a duty night. Crews were assigned to the apparatus and enjoyed a delicious dinner and a movie after we completed some work around the station. The Engine Rescue covered in Gettysburg Borough from 6-8 pm while the Holiday parade worked through town, otherwise it was a quiet night. Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to complete some work around the station and enjoyed some brotherhood in the process.

Units were dispatched at 14:39 hours for a possible structure fire in Box 19-6, Mount Pleasant Township. Chief 19 (Poland) marked on the air and was advised by the 911 center that they were receiving multiple calls on this, and it was reported to be a wood shop located to the rear of a detached residence. Chief 19 advised of a thermal column from 2 miles out and arrived to report a well off structure, and requested the first in Engine bring a 2 1/2 to side A of the fire building and a second line to the rear of the home to protect exposures. The fire was under control within minutes, but the garage suffered severe damage and 2 vintage John Deere tractors were lost in the fire. Units operating included, ET19, 19A, E1-1, R1, T33, E33-1 and ET29. The box went available at 16:24 hours.

Training night at the station became somewhat busier when we were dispatched for a 2 vehicle motor vehicle accident in box 19-6 at 19:12 hours. Both the Ambulance and Engine Rescue went responding within 2 minutes with Chief 19 (Poland) arriving prior in the duty ride. Chief 19 had the class 2 patient in the first vehicle attended to by ambulance 19A, while the 3 juveniles with minor or no injuries were assigned to Ambulance 1A. Engine Rescue 19 was assigned to vehicle stabilization and fluid mitigation of the first vehicle, while the crew of Rescue 1 handled the second vehicle.Chief 19 cleared the box at 19:55 hours.

The Engine Tanker and crew responded with Gettysburg units to South Washington Street in Gettysburg Borough at 08:28 hours. Chief 1 (Kime) arrived to find 1 patient for transport and had Rescue 1 and ET19 check the structure for any signs of a gas leak and ventilation if necessary. Columbia Gas had a representative on the scene within minutes. Finding nothing, Chief 1 placed the box available at 08:56.

The Engine Tanker was dispatched for a mutual aide assist with the working building fire in Harney at 00:07 hours. The Engine Tanker with a crew of 4 assisted at the scene until released at 03:23 hours.

Gettysburg and Bonneauville units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, reported to be head on, at 12:11 hours, in the 1-8 box. Gettysburg arriving units found a 2 vehicle MVA with 2 trauma patients. Deputy Chief 1 (Knerr) requested aeromedical to the scene. Engine Rescue 19 set up a landing zone for Maryland Trooper 3 in the field adjacent to the MVA. Trooper 3 transported 1 by air, as the 2nd trauma patient was a class 4 and the Adams County Coroner was notified. Deputy Chief 1 placed the box available at 13:00 hours.

A structure box was alerted at 04:52 hours, for a reported vacant house fire, bringing units from Gettysburg, Bonneauville, United, Biglerville, and Irishtown Fire Departments. Chief 1 (Kime) arrived to find a working fire in the basement, and had the first in Engine stretch a line to side C of the structure, with additional lines to the interior. Firefighters found the fire had extended to the attic of the home through the open stairwell, and worked on multiple levels to bring the fire under control. This was the same location of a suspicious barn fire 3 years ago, and the property has been vacant for several years. Command 1 requested a second alarm tanker box bringing additional manpower and water to the scene. Departments operating at the scene, included Gettysburg, Bonneauville, United, Irishtown, Biglerville, Barlow, Alpha, Hampton, and SAVES. Command 1 placed the box available at 08:18 hours.

The Structure box was alerted for a possible house fire at 16:38 hours, in Union Township. Both the Engine Tanker, and Engine Rescue went responding within minutes and were placed available prior to arrival by Command 20, who held the box to Alpha units, all else in service. Units on scene found a small exterior fire extinguished prior to their arrival by the homeowner. Bonneauville responding units were placed available at 16:50 hours.

The Engine Tanker provided lighting, fire prevention material and treats for the 3rd year at Four Square Gospel Church while they held their annual Trick or Treat for the children in the community. This program grows each year and provides a central location and safe place for fun and games for the young children and their families.

The Engine Rescue assisted the Instructors at the BVR class held at York Springs Fire Department from 08:00 to 16:00 hours on Saturday. 23 members of various County Fire Departments, including 2 from Bonneauville participated in the class. Engine Rescue 19 and Engine 9-2 were both available for the students and Instructors to use their resources.

Friday, 21:43 hours, Biglerville Borough. The Engine Tanker and crew of 4 transferred to the Biglerville Fire Department while they worked a house fire in the 5-7 box. While at Biglerville, the Engine Tanker assisted on an MVA in Bendersville Borough at 23:09 and cleared the accident at 23:35, and returned from Biglerville at 03:49 hours on Saturday.

Monday October 19th, 02:39 hours. The Engine Rescue, Ambulance, Rescue 33, and Medic 28 were dispatched to a single vehicle MVA reported with a car into a house with entrapment. Deputy Chief 19 (Herr) arrived within minutes to confirm dispatch and request aero medical. After the arrival of EMS, it was determined that the lone occupant of the vehicle was class 4 and the Adams County Coroner was called. After an initial crash investigation by PSP, the crews from Engine Rescue 19 and Rescue 33 worked for 20 minutes to remove the driver from the vehicle. The vehicle impact caused significant damage to both the exterior and interior of the home. All units cleared at 05:13 hours

At 06:44 hours, in box 19-3, Mount Pleasant Township, apparatus was dispatched for a MVA reported with ejection. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to find a car vs. dump truck with a single male laying in the roadway. The Chief requested aero medical and assigned first arriving ambulance 19A to the patient, while the Engine Rescue was assigned to the LZ for Lifelion coming out of Carlisle. Engine 29 arrived and was assigned stabilization and hazard control for the car, while ambulance 29A assessed the dump truck driver for any injuries. The single male was flown by Lifelion to York Trauma, and the dump truck driver was transported class 3 to Hanover Hospital. Units cleared at 08:51.

Sunday at 08:14 hours, units were dispatched to a vehicle accident reported with 1 vehicle at 315 Bon-Ox Road, Mount Pleasant Township. The Chief, Ambulance and Engine Rescue all responded within 2 minutes with the Chief (Poland) arriving to find a single vehicle off the roadway on its wheels after an apparent rollover.The single female was transported to Gettysburg Hospital, class 3, and units cleared at 08:29 hours. Units dispatched included ambulance 19A, Engine Rescue 19, Rescue 33, 33A, and Medic 28. The Chief held the box to 19A, EQ19 and M28.

The 911 Dedication Engine from the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department was in Gettysburg this evening before traveling down to Emittsburg for the NFFF Memorial on Sunday October 4th. This is a beautiful Engine and is dedicated to all firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the Line of duty. Gettysburg units were dispatched for a car vs. truck on RT.30, box 1-8-30 at 04:08 hours. Gettysburg arriving units found a car off the roadway with one seriously injured patient, and a tractor trailer load of soy well involved in fire. Command 1 (Chief Kime) requested additional water bringing Engine Tanker 19 to the scene with a crew of 4. Additional resources were called by Command 1 bringing Tanker 6, Engine 22-2, Engine 33-1, Engine 10-2, and Engine Tanker 14, along with the Adams County spill unit to the scene. The single patient from the car was flown to York Hospital. Straban Township EMA was also requested to the scene by Command 1. PennDot crews arrived to remove the unloaded soy from the roadway. Engine Tanker 19 cleared the scene at 06:16 hours.

The Engine Rescue and crew attended the annual ACVESA Memorial located at the County Training Facility. Over 100 members of the fire service and public attended the event as the ACVESA honors those members who have passed within the preceding year.

Crews handled 7 calls within 12 hours on Sunday evening into early Monday morning, with 5 EMS calls and 2 Engine calls, including the Car vs. truck on Rt.30. It has been a busier than normal year, and we are on target to run 18% more calls this year, than last. Thanks to our volunteers for all your help.

Chief 19 was notified of several calls of a uncontrolled burn at the rear of 47 W. Hanover Street, and asked to investigate by the 911 center. Upon arrival Chief 19 found a small unattended burn and requested the Engine Tanker for a non emergency response. The crew extinguished the fire and returned within 25 minutes of dispatch.

The Ambulance and Engine Rescue were dispatched to assist Gettysburg Fire Department on an MVA with entrapment, box 1-9, Straban Township, in the 1200 Block of the Hanover Road. Gettysburg units arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVA with entrapment and confinement, with both vehicles off the roadway. The Ambulance arrived to assist with patient care of the two class 1 patients, and one class 3 patient, while the EQ pulled off 1 of its Hurst power units and combo tool to assist with extrication, and establish a landing zone for Stat Medivac. Command 1 placed the box available after 1 hour on the scene.

While cleaning up from the Chicken BBQ, we were notified of an MVA on the Whitehall Road by a member who passed the scene. Chief 19 ( Poland) headed out prior to dispatch and arrived on scene at dispatch to find a single vehicle off the roadway, with one class 2 patient. The Chief held the box to 19A, M28, and the Engine Rescue to mitigate hazards. Units cleared the scene within 30 minutes.

The members worked on our first Chicken BBQ at the station which turned out to be a great success. We plan on making this an annual event with a larger event planned for next year to include a car show and flea market. MVA in the Barlow Box

uly 26th, 01:31 hours. The Engine Rescue and Ambulance were dispatched to box 22-3, Mount Joy Township, at the intersection of Route 97 and Hoffman Home Road for an MVA reported with entrapment. The Ambulance arrived on scene within 5 minutes and confirmed dispatch, with the EQ just behind. Rescue 22 arrived to assist with patient removal and a chopper was requested by Command 22. Due to severe weather conditions, we could not get a chopper and 19A transported by ground to York Trauma center. Units on scene included 19A, EQ19, R22, 20A, and M28. Units cleared the scene within 1 hour.

While returning from the Commercial Alarm in the 2-4 box, the Engine Tanker came upon an MVA on US Route 15 Northbound, just north of the Maryland state line. The Crew from the ET checked for patients, and found 2 class 3 patients, with PD en-route to the scene. After checking and securing all hazards , the ET continued home.

Engine Rescue 19 and Ambulance 19A were dispatched for a single vehicle MVA on West Hanover Street in the borough at 21:09.The EQ and ambulance arrived within minutes to find a pickup truck into a Electric pole with hazards, and the occupant out of the vehicle.The ambulance secured a refusal on the patient and the crew of the EQ mitigated hazards and returned the box to service at 21:45.

Multiple units were dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVA, reported head on at Granite Station, at 16:54 hours. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived and confirmed dispatch, and held the box to Engine Rescue 19 and the 2 BLS units for 1 transport and 4 patient refusals.13A transported 1 patient, class 2 to Hanover, and the crew from 1A handled the refusals. Ambulance 19A was on an emergency transport to John Hopkins at the time of the incident. The crew from Engine Rescue 19 handled fluid control and mitigated all hazards before the Chief placed the box available at 17:32 hours.

Units were alerted to Colonial Ridge in Mt Pleasant Twp for a vehicle fire, reported working, at 20:08, with the Engine Tanker and a crew of 6 arriving at 20:11, just behind the Chief and Deputy. Chief 19 (Poland) arrived to find a well off vehicle fire with exposures. The Chief had the ET stretch 2 lines to the SUV and protect the exposed car while making a hit on the burning vehicle. The crew made a quick knock and contained hazards, while the crew from E13 and E22-2 arrived to assist. Units on scene included ET19, 19A, E13, and E22-22. Chief 19 placed the box available at 20:39.

Units were dispatched to 1981 York Road for a possible structure fire at 14:17. E1-1 arrived to find light smoke conditions and Assistant Chief 1 assumed command. The Engine Tanker arrived to supply E1-1 and send our manpower to the front of the home. After a search of the property, it was found to be a furnace malfunction and the Engine Tanker returned at 14:36. Units on scene included E1-1, TK1, ET19, E13, ET14 and ambulance 1A.

Pre alert was sounded at 21:23 for a structure fire in the Borough at 3 B Bonniefield Circle. Deputy Chief 19 ( Herr) had the Engine Tanker with a crew of 6 lay in from Johnathon Drive to the address. After a 360 by the Deputy, it was determined to be a good intent call, and DC Herr placed the box available at 21:37.
